The infoguide is a touch screen terminal with a sound bar, which allows simulating a dialogue with a real person. Currently, the Infoguide is available at the JINR Museum of Science and Technology and the Dubna Hotel, building 3. The project is planned to be implemented in the leading science-oriented universities and JINR infocentres.
Join us on a virtual journey full of amazing discoveries and vivid emotions. You will meet experts working at the forefront of science and have a tour of a unique world-class scientific facility that is not accessible to the general public.
The idea of the project was born at the JINR University Centre and implemented in cooperation with the Dubna company Zorgtech. To implement the project, several hours of popular science content in Russian and English were filmed and edited, and an interactive terminal with an 85-inch touch screen and a built-in soundbar was developed. The terminal's memory contains basic information about the laboratories of the Institute, where specialists from different countries create science, make discoveries, and explore the mysteries of the universe. The human-sized interactive kiosk with touch control allows simulating a dialogue with real scientists working in the 7 laboratories of the Institute, each comparable to an independent research institute. Just select any question on the screen and get a video answer from a real JINR researcher. As the next step, the Infoguide offers to delve into the research topics of the laboratory whose question is selected, and to study the topic in more detail. Thanks to a user-friendly menu, it is possible to switch to different topics at each step.
The developers have also prepared a surprise bonus – "Collider Quest"! Hitting the button launches an interactive journey through the main sectors of the NICA mega-science project. A laboratory scientist will guide you through the heart of this impressive machine. You will see a source of accelerated particles, a booster, walk along the corridors of the collider ring and enter the detector hall. At each sector, you must give the correct answer to the guide's question in order to move on. In case of an incorrect answer, “help” will pop up on the screen, and, having read it, you will be able to move on. At the end, the "traveler" gets one more surprise bonus – the opportunity to "launch" a virtual collider and see the entire cycle of the experiment: from particle injection to the final collision in the detector.
At the moment, developing the next stage of the project is underway: gamification, which, with mass access, can launch a competition between users. There is also an opportunity to get a prize.
Information touch stands are a new universal form of interaction with an interested audience that allows increasing the level of awareness, loyalty, and involvement. This interactive guide is a fun new way to discover the wonders of physics аnd see how international collaboration drives scientific progress.
