On February 21, a group of school students from Yaroslavl visited JINR. The guests were welcomed at the Museum of the History of Science and Technology of JINR, and afterwards in the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, and the Laboratory of High Energy Physics.
Staff members of the JINR Museum of the History of Science and Technology, A. Zlotnikova and K. Kozubsky, gave a class to familiarise the visitors with the main fields of research conducted at the Institute: the class included an introductory video and a tour around the Museum halls.
Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Engineering Sciences N.Polotnyanko gave a short talk on the University "Dubna" and the possibilities offered to its students.
Students O. Zhdanova and S. Luchnikova shared their impressions of studying at Dubna University with the visitors.
The visit to the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems began with an introductory lecture on neutrino detection by N. Anfimov. After the lecture the students visited the NOvA experiment control room, and the “dark room”, where A. Selyunin told them about the method of photodetector testing used in neutrino experiments.
The tour around JINR was concluded by their visiting the Laboratory of High Energy Physics. A. Galimov showed the visitors the hall, where superconducting magnets are assembled and tested.
