On 19 June 2017, a delegation of teachers from the HEMDA – Center for Science Education, Tel Aviv, Israel, arrived with a three-day reconnaissance visit to JINR.
The programme of the visit to the Joint Institute for Israeli guests was eventful and broad-ranged. Acquaintance with the Institute began in the JINR Visit Centre, where Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department D.V. Kamanin welcomed the delegation and gave the guests a review lecture on the JINR activities.
An extensive excursion programme was offered to the guests. The teachers visited the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, the Museum of Science and Technology of JINR, the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics, the Laboratory of Information Technologies and the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics.
The main objective of the visit of the delegation of Israeli teachers was acquaintance with the JINR’s experiences in the fields of educational programmes. The guests were acquainted with practices in visual demonstration of physical phenomena, possibilities of a virtual visit of the JINR basic facilities through 3D panoramas and the Virtual laboratory of nuclear fission. The teachers learned about the educational programmes of the JINR University Centre for students, schoolchildren and teachers of physics.
The visit of the Israeli delegation was finished with the reception at the JINR Directorate, where the guests were welcomed by JINR Chief Scientific Secretary A.S. Sorin, JINR Vice-Directors M.G. Itkis and R. Lednický, UC Director S.Z. Pakuliak. Members of the delegation expressed hope for strengthening of friendly and business relations between the HEMDA Centre and JINR and spoke about plans to organize a visit of a group of talented school students from Israel to carry out projects on the basis of JINR
