On 31 January, 2018, participants of MIPT physics and mathematics school “Absolute Future” had a visit to the JINR Laboratory of High Energy Physics.
35 Students from Moscow, Moscow region, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Perm, Ivanovo, Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk, Tyumen, St. Petersburg, and Shymkent became guests of the Institute.
VBLHEB researcher D. Dryablov showed the students around the Laboratory. He gave an introductory talk on the NICA Project and described the problems which scientists plan to solve using the new accelerator complex. The guests managed to see a model of the future MPD detector and observe the Collider construction site from the roof of the legendary building which has been the symbol of JINR for over 60 years.
Later on, O.Kuchenko and D.Dryablov gave a talk about the synchrophasotron and introduced the students to the VBLHEP operating facilities, such as the linear accelerator LU-20, the new HILAC, and the superconducting accelerator Nuclotron.
At the end of the visit, O.Kazinova and A.Shemchuk explained to the students the main stages of the assembling and testing of superconducting magnets, produced for the NICA Complex.
