Israeli high-school students

17 high-school students accompanied by teachers from the HEMDA – Center for Science Education, Tel Aviv, Israel, arrived with a three-day visit at JINR.

The guests had an extensive excursion programme which included visits to the Museum of History of Science and Technology of JINR, the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics, the Laboratory of Information Technologies, the Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics, and the Laboratory of Radiation Biology.

In addition to the introductory lectures and visits to the basic facilities of the Institute, the students had an opportunity to apply their knowledge and gain new skills using the experimental equipment constructed by professor Yu.A.Panebrattsev’s group under the project “Virtual Laboratory of Nuclear Fission”. Under the supervision of K.V. Klygina, G.A. Yarygin, A.O. Strekalovskiy, P.D. Semchukov, and G.S. Averichev, the pupils studied the basics of electrical signals measurements, learned about the operation of semiconductor and scintillation detectors, worked with a scintillation telescope of cosmic rays.
