On Monday, 8 July 2019, the second stage of the International Student Practice 2019 on the fields of JINR research started in the JINR University Centre. 66 students from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia came to Dubna to take part in the Practice.
Following the tradition, the first days of the Practice are devoted to the acquaintance of students with the Joint Institute. On the first day, participants heard lectures about research conducted in the JINR laboratories. Overview lectures about JINR and its opportunities were delivered by Head of the JINR International Cooperation Department Dmitry Kamanin and UC Director Stanislav Pakuliak. Researcher of the Laboratory of Radiation Biology Maria Lalkovičová and Senior Researcher of the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics Andrey Pikelner told to students about activities of their laboratories.
On 9 and 10 July, students are being acquainted with the JINR laboratories. They have excursions to the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, the Laboratory of Nuclear Problems, the Laboratory of Information Technologies, the Laboratory of High Energy Physics, and the Laboratory of Neutron Physics.
The major part of the Practice is allotted to work on the educational and research projects carried out under the supervision of specialists of the JINR laboratories. The final day of the three-week Practice will be dedicated to reporting presentations of students about their work on projects.
