On 18 October, Dubna Lyceum №6 hosted a JINR Day as part of the marathon ‘JINR is visiting schools in Dubna’.
JINR scientists spent the whole school day talking to the Lyceum students, performed scientific chemical and physical experiments, talked about recent achievements in the field of radiobiology and astrophysics, gave a career guidance talk.
To the youngest students, a researcher at VBLHEP, Dmitriy Dryablov demonstrated how the laws of Physics work and a researcher at FLNP, Constantin Hramco, performed a number of chemical experiments. The secondary school students watched a video lecture on the NICA collider. Yuriy Severukhin, a researcher at LRB, introduced the main research carried out in the laboratory of radio biology and explained how radiation affects living organisms in space. Nikolai Anfimov, the head of the Methodological Research Sector of the Scientific and Experimental Department of Elementary Particle Physics DLNP, presented the main fields of research conducted at the Institute.
The marathon was organised by the JINR University Centre within the framework of the Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation. It began in April 2021, following the 65th anniversary of the Institute. At the Lyceum №6, 246 students participated in the JINR Day. So far, the marathon ‘JINR is visiting schools’ has been held at 6 education institutions in Dubna, with the total number of participants being 2545. By the end of 2021, all schools of Dubna are to host the events of the marathon.
