On 24 December 2021, the solemn opening of the exhibition of works by the winners of the international competition «JINR in drawings of children and adults» dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Institute took place in the Culture Centre "Mir". 150 people from Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, Romania, and the Czech Republic participated in the contest.
The winners of the competition were congratulated by JINR Director Academician of RAS Grigory Trubnikov. In his speech, he thanked everyone for their participation, noted the modern spirit of works, and expressed his admiration for the portraits of scientists. According to the terms of the competition, JINR plans to use the drawings of the winners in the production of JINR merchandise in the future.
Maria Demina, teacher at the «Druzhba» Centre, and her students Zoya Demina, Milana Lebedeva, Lyubov Kozhanova, and Ekaterina Tomarovskaya spoke about the preparation for the competition. Maria noted that a lot of research work preceded the creation of the drawings. Children studied the biographies of scientists and felt the involvement of Dubna residents in science and the history of the Institute. During preparation for the contest, one of the participants, Karina Androsova, got acquainted with the history of the older generation of her family and depicted her great-grandfather, an employee of DLNP, in the process of his work.
Students of music school No. 1 Anna Pivovarova, Maria Shilimova and Vasilisa Boikova also congratulated the winners. They played music pieces by Franz Joseph Haydn, Joaquín Turina and Anton Stepanovich Arensky.
The purpose of the competition was to popularize the scientific achievements of JINR among schoolchildren and young people. The presented works were spectacular. They illustrated the scenes of the 65-year history of JINR: depicted employees, projects and discoveries of the Institute. Some of them featured poems and congratulations addressed to JINR.
The exhibition is open from December 23 to January 03 in the Culture Centre “Mir” from 11:00 to 20:00.
