On March 25 and 31, 2022, second-year students of the Institute of Engineering and Physics of the Dubna State University got acquainted with JINR. The students visited the interactive exhibition "JINR Main Facilities", the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics n.a. N.N. Bogoliubov and the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions n.a. G.N. Flerov.
Nikita Sidorov, a software engineer at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics, spoke about the operation of the JINR basic facilities using multimedia models of the NICA collider, the Baikal-GVD neutrino telescope, the IBR-2 pulsed reactor, and the cyclotrons of the Nuclear Reactions Laboratory. With the help of virtual reality technology, the participants of the excursion were able to travel to Lake Baikal to see the work of engineers involved in the installation of a new neutrino telescope cluster.
Acquaintance with JINR continued on the premises of the Institute, where students were given lectures on the history and the main fields of research of the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, as well as an excursion to the SHE Factory, where superheavy elements are synthesised and their properties are studied. The lectures were given by FLNR Scientific Secretary Alexander Karpov and BLTP Scientific Secretary Alexander Andreev. Vasily Semin, Head of the FLNR Department, gave a tour around the SHE Factory.
