On 18 April, 2022, the first online lecture "Neutron activation analysis in environmental studies" within the framework of cooperation with the JINR InfoCentre opened on the basis of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov was given by the Head of the Neutron Activation Analysis and Applied Research Sector of the FLNP Inga Zinicovscaia to students of 9-11 grades. The event was held as part of the JINR UC Lectorium.
In the first part of the lecture, Inga introduced the school children to the main methods used to assess the content of chemical elements in a sample and to the advantages of neutron activation analysis. She also spoke about the main stages of preparation and irradiation of images at the REGATA facility of the IBR-2 reactor. 2. The second part of the lecture was devoted to the areas of applied research: assessment of atmospheric precipitation of heavy metals, water quality monitoring, development of wastewater treatment methods, and nanotoxicology.
