On 25 April, 2022, students of the Physics and Mathematics class of Moscow School No. 1514 visited JINR. The school children attended the interactive exhibition "JINR Basic Facilities", DLNP, and VBLHEP.
At the interactive exhibition, VBLHEP software engineer Nikita Sidorov told the guests about the history of JINR, its scientific experiments and achievements, showed multimedia models of the main facilities: NICA collider, Baikal-GVD neutrino telescope, IBR-2 pulsed reactor, and the FLNR cyclotrons. Moreover, using the virtual reality glasses, the school students were able to look inside the laboratories.
DLNP junior researcher Vladislav Sharov told the students about the neutrino experiments JUNO-TAO (China), DUNE (USA), and the developments that the Sector made for these studies. The tour continued at VBLHEP, where the leading engineer Alexander Tikhomirov showed the students the elements of the accelerator complex of the NICA collider.
Karim Gabdrakipov, an 8-grade student, noted that during the tour complex things were explained and shown very clearly. It was fascinating to learn about the study of different types of neutrinos and various photodetectors for collecting information, and the NICA project struck the guests with its scale.
