ISP participants publish an article in “Nanomaterials”

In September 2023, the journal “Nanomaterials” published an article prepared by the Egyptian students who participated in the JINR International Student Practice under the supervision of the researchers of the Neutron Activation Analysis and Applied Research Sector at the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics.

As part of Stage 1 of the International Student Practice held in 2023 and organised by the JINR University Centre, a student of the British University in Egypt, Islam Gomaa, and a student of Cairo University, Saba Atrees, under the supervision of Inga Zinicovscaia and Nikita Yushin, staff members of the Neutron Activation Analysis and Applied Research Sector at JINR FLNP, extracted the rare earth element Tb (terbium) from wastewater using two types of adsorbents: In2O3 (indium oxide) nanoparticles and biological adsorbent Arthrospira platensis (spirulina). Based on the results of this work, a scientific article was prepared and published in the journal “Nanomaterials” in September 2023.
