First Results of the Russian Conversation Club

On the 24th and 26th of December 2024, in the lead-up to the New Year festivities, a meeting of the Russian Conversation Club took place. It served as an opportunity to review the the first months results of the Russian language mastering and discuss New Year traditions of Russia and other countries.

The Russian Conversation Club was established at the JINR University Centre two months ago. Since then, it has welcomed 35 members from India, Cuba, Vietnam, China, Egypt, Romania, Iran, and Mongolia. For many, the club is not just about learning Russian grammar and expanding their vocabulary; it also provides a chance for socialising and intercultural communication. At the end of December 2024, the club held an informal meeting that included an introduction to New Year symbols and traditions from Russia and the participating countries. Active club members, Amer Hassan from Egypt and Silvia Fortune Fabregas from Cuba, took on the roles of Father Frost and the Snow Maiden.

Yunhong Wang, China:

“Teacher, I am so glad I attended the event. It allowed us to use the knowledge we gained last week, like a good combination of theory and practice. Such events make us, foreigners, feel a sense of closeness, joy and comfort. Thank you for your kindness! Merry Christmas, be healthy and all the best!”

Silvia Fortuné Fabregas, Cuba:

“I am grateful for your kindness, as I thought I would be spending my first Christmas without my family, but this wasn’t the case. Thanks to you, I had a fantastic Christmas. Thank you so much!”

Togtokhtur Tudevdorj, Mongolia:

“We had a wonderful time! Thank you!”
