School students from Dubna have participated in the VIII physical marathon "Step up into Science" in Troitsk. The ninth-grade students demonstrated such experiments as "Jacob's Ladder", "Yutkin’s Effect" and "Balloelectric Effect". Experiments had been trained in the classes of experimental physics supervised by Irina Osipenkova.
The format of performances at the festival involves not only the demonstration of experiments, but also a theatrical introduction, representing the team and explaining the essence of experiments to the audience. "Jacob's Ladder", the most spectacular of the experiments presented by Dubna, sparked genuine interest among the competent jury. The guys stood up to the masters, they were able to defend and on the spot (!) experimentally prove their understanding of the physics of the effect.
