On November 14, twenty eight 1-year students of the Faculty of General and Applied Physics, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (FGAP, MIPT), visited JINR.
The main purpose of the visit was to introduce the guests to the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the modern problems of theoretical and experimental physics, which the international JINR staff is currently working on.
The visit began in Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, where the scientific secretary A.V. Karpov spoke about the synthesis of superheavy elements and guided a tour of the FLNR Superheavy Elements Factory.
Afterwards the students visited Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics, where they got acquainted with the fields of research conducted at BLTP. The visitors listened to the lectures by V.L. Katkov, D.V. Fursaev, I.V. Anikin, A.B. Arbuzov, and A.V. Gladyshev.
The director of the JINR University Centre S.Z. Pakuliak told the guests about the opportunities to take part in the educational projects of the Institute.
This visit will help the students, who are going to choose the JINR-based FGAP, MIPT, to find a scientific field of interest and a supervisor in order to prepare their future theses.
