On 11 August 2026, Russian school students – participants in the International Engineering and Space Competition "Global Future Space Scholars Meet", which was held in Beijing – visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.
The young engineers and future scientists toured the superconducting magnet factory, the NICA booster and collider, as well as the IBR‑2 research reactor.
The visit to JINR was part of the preparation of the Russian team for the international competition, which took place from 13 to 17 August. It should be noted that Russia took part in the competition for the first time, competing against teams from nine countries. The national team consisted of 11 school students, four of whom represented Moscow. As a result of the competition, the Russian team won the cup and three prize awards.
The Russian school students were trained for the international engineering and space olympiad by experts from the Central University and Roscosmos.
