The START (STudent Advanced Research Training) programme invites undergraduate and postgraduate students to join its Winter Session 2027 at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna, Russia. The application deadline is 16 October 2026.
The fully funded, on-site internship lasts 6–8 weeks. Participants work on research and engineering projects under the guidance of JINR specialists, gaining hands-on experience in an international scientific environment.
The programme welcomes applicants studying natural sciences, engineering or IT: Bachelor’s students who have completed their third year, Master’s students and first-year PhD students. Participants are selected by project supervisors through a competitive application process.
START offers an opportunity to explore research interests, identify a topic and supervisor for a future thesis, and take the first steps towards a scientific career at JINR.
To apply, register on the programme website, choose a research topic from the Winter Session 2027 project list and click APPLY. Please submit your session application immediately after registration; there is no need to wait for your registration form to be approved.
